The Same Weight Can Be a Different Challenge

Two ways to describe a load

Absolute load is the actual weight on the equipment. Relative load describes that weight in relation to a stated reference. Those are different pieces of information. Two people can lift the same absolute weight while working with different plans, experience, and abilities.

Give every percentage a home

A percentage needs a reference value. Fifty percent of a known 80-pound reference is 40 pounds. Fifty percent of 120 pounds is 60 pounds. That arithmetic does not tell either person what to lift. It shows why a percentage without its reference is incomplete. Do not test a maximum just to fill a blank in an app; ask your coach what reference the program intends.
