Meet the Bike Before Your First Spin Class

Arrive with a setup question

Your first indoor cycling class starts before the music. Ask the instructor to show you that studio's bike setup, including seat and handlebar adjustments. Different bikes use different levers and scales. A number from a friend's bike is not a fit prescription for yours.

Find the controls while stopped

Have the instructor identify the resistance control, stop procedure, and any display settings before class begins. Ask whether your shoes work with the pedals and how to enter and leave them correctly. Do not guess from a video of another bike model. If you need help during class, knowing how to get the instructor's attention is part of the setup too.

Leave the leaderboard for later

A first visit can have a simple goal: learn the equipment and follow the class options that suit you. You do not need to match a stranger's numbers. If the studio allows it, note your confirmed settings and the bike model after class. Keep personal products away from the controls and shared equipment. The useful souvenir is a setup you understand, not a mystery score on a screen.
